I am Professor of Anthropology and Chair of the Department of Social Sciences at Western Connecticut State University. I received my M.Phil and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. I am also currently Chair of the New York Academy of Sciences Anthropology Section. I have a BFA in Theatre and worked in regional theatre before going on to do graduate work. I live in Brooklyn with my husband Luke, who is scenic designer and a professor in Film and Screen Studies at Pace University, and our daughter Tosca.
